Christmas Melodies: Double Stop Solos and Duets For Violin, Volume I (with CD), Bound Physical Books, is an excellent way to introduce violin students to the magical world of double stops! The student plays a duet with their teacher, a Christmas Carol of their choice. After playing the duet, the student goes immediately to the double stop solo, where the same, identical notes written in the duet are rewritten for one player. For a more detailed analysis of my approach to teaching double stop solos, please refer to my recently revised article.

This Volume is written for students in late book three to early book four of Suzuki or for traditional students studying perhaps Bach Bourrees, Gavottes or Seitz Telemann concerti. In other words, it is geared for students with very little or no experience playing double stops. There are lots of octaves with open strings, thirds without 4th fingers and both major and minor sixths. As such, it is an ideal starting place to begin the journey into the wonderful world of double stops!
